Trauma counselling for Women

"Why am I still affected by this?"

You don't need to have experienced a particular type of trauma or meet a certain definition for your experiences to have affected you.

Sometimes it is the accumulation of many smaller experiences — feeling unseen, unheard, criticised, rejected, responsible for others or unable to be yourself — that can leave a lasting impact.

Therapy can provide a safe space to explore these experiences without judgement.

Trauma, ADHD and anxiety

For some women, particularly those who discover ADHD later in life, understanding their past can become even more important.

You may have spent years feeling different, struggling to understand yourself or being told that you were too sensitive, disorganised, emotional or difficult.

You may have developed coping strategies to hide your difficulties and appear as though you were managing.

Over time, this can contribute to exhaustion, anxiety, shame and burnout.

Understanding the relationship between your experiences, your nervous system, your emotions and your neurodiversity can help you develop greater self-compassion and a clearer understanding of yourself.

How I work

I offer a warm, down-to-earth and trauma-informed approach.

I won't force you to talk about things before you're ready, and you don't have to tell me everything that has happened to you in order for counselling to be helpful.

We'll work together at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Rather than simply focusing on what is happening now, we can explore the experiences and patterns that may have contributed to how you feel today.

The aim isn't to change who you are. It's to help you understand yourself, recognise the patterns that no longer serve you and develop ways of responding that feel healthier and more manageable.

You don't have to keep carrying it on your own

You may have spent years coping, functioning and putting everyone else first.

Perhaps you're now reaching a point where you want to understand yourself properly rather than simply keep pushing through.

Counselling can give you a space where you don't have to perform, mask or have all the answers.

You can simply come as you are.
