Anxiety & Burnout Counselling for Women

When keeping everything together starts to feel impossible

Perhaps you're the person everyone relies on.

You keep working, looking after everyone else and trying to keep life moving — but underneath, you're exhausted.

Your mind may never seem to switch off. You might constantly worry, overthink, struggle to relax or feel like you're always waiting for the next thing to go wrong.

You may be functioning on the outside, while inside you're struggling to cope.

Anxiety and overwhelm

Anxiety doesn't always look like panic.

It can be a constant feeling of being on edge, a busy mind that won't quieten down, difficulty relaxing or a feeling that something is always wrong.

You may find yourself:

  • overthinking and worrying constantly

  • struggling to switch off

  • feeling overwhelmed by everyday demands

  • becoming emotionally overloaded

  • struggling to sleep or properly rest

  • finding it difficult to make decisions

  • feeling guilty when you put yourself first

Counselling can help you understand what's underneath your anxiety and begin to find ways of responding that feel more manageable.

When you're running on empty

Burnout can happen when you've been pushing yourself for too long without enough time to rest, recover or feel supported.

You may have spent years being capable, independent and the person who gets things done.

Perhaps you've become very good at carrying on even when you're struggling.

Until eventually, something has to give.

You might feel exhausted, disconnected, tearful, irritable or unable to cope with things that previously felt manageable.

Burnout isn't a sign that you've failed. Sometimes it's a sign that the way you've been coping is no longer sustainable.

Anxiety, burnout and ADHD

For women with ADHD, anxiety and burnout can become particularly complicated.

You may have spent years working harder than everyone else to stay organised, meet expectations and hide the things you find difficult.

Masking, perfectionism and constantly trying to compensate can be exhausting.

If you've recently discovered you have ADHD, you may also be looking back at your life and beginning to understand yourself differently.

Counselling can give you space to explore this without judgement and begin to develop a kinder understanding of yourself.

How I work

My approach is warm, down-to-earth and trauma-informed.

I won't simply give you a list of things to do or tell you to "think positively".

We'll work together to understand what's happening for you and explore the patterns that may be contributing to your anxiety or burnout.

This might include looking at your relationships, boundaries, expectations of yourself, childhood experiences, ADHD or perfectionism.

You don't have to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong.

We can work that out together.

You don't have to keep pushing through

You don't need to wait until you're completely overwhelmed before asking for support.

Counselling can give you somewhere to stop, breathe and put yourself first for a change.
